UPS power supply

Power Manifold can run from a Mean Well LAD-xxxU security power supply, which charges a battery and switches to it when mains power fails. Only the models ending in U have the serial port Power Manifold needs.

Connect the supply’s 24 V output to the chassis XT60 input as usual. Then connect the supply’s serial port (on its CN2 header) to the controller card’s 3-pin UPS header. The controller finds the supply by itself within a few seconds.

Once the supply answers, the controller shows:

  • whether mains power is on, whether it’s running on battery and whether the battery is charging;
  • battery voltage, mains voltage and load current.

These appear in the web interface’s chassis line, in Home Assistant as UPS AC input, UPS on battery and UPS charging plus three sensors, in the MQTT status and in the status JSON.

Running on battery, or a battery problem such as a missing, reversed or failing battery, raises the Problem warning. You can use it to shut down your Raspberry Pis gracefully before the battery runs out.

The UPS entities appear only once a supply answers. A chassis without one shows none.
